Henry Quesada

Henry Quesada, professor in the Sustainable Biomaterials Department, has been named Vice President of the Society of Wood Science and Technology (SWST).

The Society of Wood Science and Technology (SWST) is an international organization of wood scientists, marketing researchers, engineers, and other specialists whose focus is on lignocellulosic materials. This international society has operated since the 1960s, and in addition to providing venues to collaborate, share, and network, SWST is the accreditation body of wood science and technology programs since 1984.

In his role as Vice President for SWST, Henry will also be a member of the Board of Directors. The Board meets several times a year to discuss critical issues impacting the Society. Henry will perform tasks and responsibilities as determined by the Board.

Next year, Henry will become president-elect. During their third term, the president-elect becomes the Society’s president. The president oversees all operations of the board and represents the views of the Society to both public and private organizations. The president is also responsible for organizing the annual SWST International Convention.

Henry has been a member and involved with SWST since he was a graduate student in 2000.
