SBIO’s own Dr. Daniel Hindman has been selected as the winner of the prestigious Fred W. Gottschalk Memorial Award for 2021. Hindman has exhibited consistent commitment in serving the Forest Products Society. The Forest Products Society is a global network for forest products professionals, and only recently announced the winners of all of the 2021 Annual Excellence Awards. These awards were presented during the FPS Virtual International Convention. Hindman has been involved in a number of strategic leadership roles at the national and section levels of the FPS since becoming a member.

The Gottschalk Award recognizes exceptional service to FPS by an individual member. The Gottschalk Award has been presented since 1966 in memory of Fred W. Gottschalk, the first President of FPS who died in a plane crash in Salt Lake City in 1965. In order to be eligible for nomination for this prestigious award, the candidate must be an active member of the society for a minimum of 10 years, with a demonstrable history of service to the society.

Hindman served as the editor of the Forest Products Society’s journal, Wood Design Focus, and has a long list of professional committee memberships that demonstrate his continued interest in and commitment to the profession of wood engineering…
