There are many ways to get hands-on experience in the packaging program.

Packaging Design Projects

We have two packaging design classes that offer an opportunity to work on real life packaging design projects. SBIO 3005 and 3006 – Sustainable Packaging Design and Innovation is open to all students including freshman, while SBIO  4054 is reserved for senior students. Both classes focus on solving real life packaging problems for the sponsoring packaging company

Undergraduate research

Our packaging faculty continuously working on state-of-the-art research projects to develop innovative packaging materials and packaging design methods. If you would like to be involved in research conducted in our chemical laboratories or in our packaging center, please contact the individual faculty for more information.

Work in our packaging center

Our Center for Packaging and Unit Load Design encompassing our Amazon Certified Testing lab, IKEA lab and the pallet lab, has been working with the packaging industry form more than 40 years. Student Design Competitions
