If you've found that your current major isn't quite what you expected, don't worry. Many successful students discover that their strengths and interests are better matched with a different path. At Virginia Tech, Packaging Systems and Design (PSD) offers the perfect combination of engineering, creativity, innovation, and hands-on learning.

PSD students think like engineers, solve real-world technical challenges, and design packaging used by some of the world's biggest companies. You'll apply engineering principles every day while spending more time building, testing, prototyping, and collaborating in laboratories than sitting through advanced theoretical math courses. It's an ideal major for students who enjoy solving problems but prefer learning by doing.

The best part? PSD graduates earn starting salaries that are competitive with traditional engineering disciplines. Employers are eager to hire graduates who understand engineering fundamentals while also bringing expertise in product design, manufacturing, materials, sustainability, automation, logistics, and supply chain systems. Packaging Systems and Design gives you the technical foundation and practical experience to make an immediate impact.

Keep the engineering mindset.
Gain more hands-on experience.
Launch an incredible career.
Discover why so many students find their home in Packaging Systems and Design.
