The 2026 SBIO Research Symposium is our students' opportunity to present their findings, engage with peers and faculty, sharpen their communication skills, build confidence and demonstrate the depth of their academic work.

Event Information:

Title: 2026 SBIO Research Symposium
Location: Room "Latham C" at The Inn at VT
Date: Friday, April 24th, 2026
Time: 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Purpose: This poster symposium is a semi-annual event for SBIO department students to share their research.

Whether you're just starting your research journey or putting the finishing touches on a capstone project, this is your moment to shine. Don't let the hard work stop on the page – share it and bring it to life!

Every presenter is automatically entered to win - multiple prizes are available! 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place cash awards will be given out for both the undergraduate and graduate categories.

Student Registration

All SBIO students, undergraduate and graduate, are welcome to participate in the 2026 SBIO Research Symposium and Poster Presentations. If you've been working on a research project over the last semesters and would like to share your data, please click the registration link below or visit the QR code.

You will need to upload the abstract of your research when registering. Please download the abstract template provided below, and fill it out with your research info before registering.

Poster Presentations

Students wishing to present their projects at the 2026 SBIO Research Symposium will need to prepare a poster for the event.

Please use the PowerPoint template provided to design your poster (downloadable below).

All printed posters should measure approx. 24 inches x 34 inches. And, all posters must include the following information.

  • Research Project Title
  • Presenter(s) name, major
  • Faculty advisor name
  • Project Background
  • Research Objectives
  • Project Materials and Methods
  • Research Results
  • Project Conclusion

NOTE: All posters must be secured to plastic/corrugate boards before arriving at the symposium. The event will not provide boards, but will provide easels for the student presenters.
