Biography

Dr. Abasali Masoumi is a researcher and instructor in the Department of Sustainable Biomaterials at Virginia Tech, specializing in sustainable materials, hygrothermal analysis, and scientific machine learning. His work focuses on understanding and modeling the physical behavior of biomaterials to improve durability and support the development of low‑carbon, high‑performance products. Dr. Masoumi’s research integrates material science, computation, and nature‑inspired design to advance sustainable solutions in the built environment. He is actively engaged in teaching and mentoring students in sustainable design and innovation.
